Quezon City Rep. Jesus Manuel “Bong” Suntay issued an apology for his controversial remark about Anne Curtis, but insisted that he just used an analogy to “make a point.”

In an interview with DZMM, Bong apologized to those who were offended by his inappropriate remark, stating that he was just sharing a “fictitious scenario.”
“It was a fictitious scenario—an analogy I made to drive a point,” he said.
“Sometimes, alam mo, you need to take a hit if you want to drive a poimt across, and I feel that was achieved,” he added.
The congresman added that people would take a statement “out of context,” comparing his “desire” towards the actress to Vice President Sara Duterte’s past statement that she wanted to cut off the head of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, which was just imaginary.
He even pointed out how this shows the bad situation the country has been in.
“Nasa gitna tayo ng crisis dahil sa nangyari sa Iran… Magshoo-shoot up ang presyo ng gasolina. Halos isang taon na ‘yung usapin doon sa mga ghost projects, hanggang ngayon wala pa talagang nakukulong. Wala pa talagang nakakasuhan. Pero kita mo, ano ‘yung pinag-uusapan natin? ‘Yung statement kay Anne Curtis, ‘yung analogy kay Anne Curtis… Dahil ba celebrity ‘yung binanggit ko? Which is the situation that we are in right now,”
In the end, he stood by his analogy, noting that it was open to the reader’s interpretation.
“Kagaya ng sinabi ko, if she [Jasmine Curtis-Smith] was offended or some people were offended, that was not to offend. That analogy, if you read that statement clearly, if you read it without bias, walang malice doon,” he said.
“I stand by that analogy that I made but if some people were offended, lalo na Women’s Month, I’m sorry for those who were offended but if you read the context talaga, there was nothing malicious in it,” he insisted.
During the proceedings on the pending impeachment complaints against the vice president, the congressman openly expressed his personal “desire” for actress Anne Curtis.
“Alam niyo minsan, minsan nasa Shangri-La ako, nakita ko si Anne Curtis, ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na, nag-init talaga, na-imagine ko na lang kung ano’ng pwedeng mangyari pero siyempre hanggang imagination na lang ’yon. Pero ‘di naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan kung ano ang na-imagine ko eh (You know, sometimes when I’m at Shangri-La, I see Anne Curtis and realize how very beautiful she is. You know, I felt this desire inside me. I get really hot and I imagine what could happen, though of course it remained only in my imagination. But surely I can’t be charged for what I imagined, right)?” he said.
