This Café Has a Cinema That Screens Indie and Mainstream Movies

Looking for a unique spot to unwind in Quezon City? Cinema ’76 Café along Tomas Morato is a hidden gem where good food, indie films, and cute cats come together for a relaxed, memorable outing.

We tried a few things from the menu, starting with the laing pasta. It had a gentle spice that was just right for someone like me who isn’t used to heat, but you can ask for it to be spicier if you like. The shrimp and truffle egg waffle-wich was a delightful surprise—the salty shrimp and egg paired perfectly with sweet waffles.

For drinks, we opted for the Matinee, a peanut butter and chocolate frappe that hit the spot, and an iced rose latte, which was light, refreshing, and slightly floral. And of course, we had the classic buttered popcorn—simple, comforting, and a must at a cinema-themed café.

What makes Cinema ’76 extra special is that you can actually watch indie or mainstream films in their indoor cinema while eating, which makes the whole experience feel more playful and casual.

On top of that, they have cats up for adoption. We met Dolores, the mama cat, and her tiny kittens—it was honestly the cutest part of our visit.

The café itself has a modern but homey feel. Whether you sit inside or outside, it’s easy to just settle in and take your time. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food was thoughtfully made, and the atmosphere made it feel like more than just a quick bite—it felt like a small, memorable outing.

By the end of our visit, it was the perfect mix of good food, cute surprises, and a relaxed space to just hang out.
