It begins with Nigel (Stanley Tucci) describing Runway as “not just a magazine,” but a “global icon” and a “winding road that brings us back together again.” Soon after, a familiar character walks into the office, prompting a double-take from Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). In another scene, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) jokes that she must be hallucinating.
The moment is capped off with a formal introduction in the new role, followed by a dry, sarcastic response from Miranda, who says she’s thrilled to have her back, in classic Miranda fashion.
The sequel is set for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026, and part of the story will take place in Milan. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were previously spotted at Dolce & Gabbana’s Milan Fashion Week show in September 2025, hinting at the film’s international fashion backdrop.
The original The Devil Wears Prada, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 bestselling novel, was a box-office hit, earning $326.7 million worldwide. It later inspired a stage musical featuring music by Elton John, which premiered in 2022.
