The Internet Reacts to This Office’s Surprisingly Simple Christmas Party Spread

A TikTok video of an office Christmas party setup put together by an all-male department has been making the rounds online for its unexpectedly simple approach to holiday festivities.

In the clip posted by TikTok user Marco Olivares, their team’s Christmas table features a few dishes, a bottle of soft drinks, an icebox, and several gifts, including one that’s only half-wrapped, which quickly became a talking point in the comments. According to Olivares, this setup was already their “maximum effort.”

Parang mag-iinuman lang ehh,” he joked in the caption.

He also wrote in the video: “POV: Puro kayo lalaki sa department na magki-Christmas party,” keeping the mood light with laughing emojis.

Despite the understated setup, the video resonated with many TikTok users, gaining over 24,600 likes, 490 bookmarks, and 342 comments—mostly from Filipinos who found the scene all too familiar.

One user commented, “Ganto ‘yung mga solid na Christmas party e, hahaha,” to which Olivares replied, “Wala [nang] set-up, purong inuman lang, sagad na effort na ‘yan.”

Another viewer pointed out the half-wrapped gift with a teasing “’Yung balot,” prompting Olivares to respond, “Pinag-isipan mabuti ‘yung regalo… baka mabitin. Alak na lang iregalo,” still keeping the banter going.

Others shared similar experiences from their own workplaces. “Ganto sa branch ko dati. Mga kasama ko, puro tito levels na. ‘Yung ibang branch, may theme-theme pa. Kami, ayun, inum lang sila,” one commenter wrote.

The video eventually caught the attention of News5, which reported that Olivares’ group plans to make up for the minimalist setup at their company-wide Christmas party—this time with organizers and an actual theme.

In the Philippines, office Christmas parties are often known for going big, with some companies booking hotels or event venues for a full program, complete with raffles, performances, and themes. But as this viral clip shows, sometimes even the simplest setups can spark the most laughter online.
