The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced that MRT-3 and LRT-2 passengers who present their National ID can enjoy complimentary trips during rush hours, in celebration of International Identity Day.

The free rides will be available from 7 AM to 9 AM and again from 5 PM to 7 PM. That means thousands of workers, students, and daily commuters who bring their National ID can get to their destinations without spending a peso on train fare during these hours.

For many, this small perk translates to real savings, especially for those who take the train every day.

Aside from free rides, the PSA is also making the most out of the occasion by setting up registration and assistance booths at MRT-3 Cubao and Taft stations.

Commuters can use the opportunity to register for their National ID, request a paper version, or get help accessing their Digital National ID. This makes it more convenient for those who have yet to complete the process, since they can take care of it right along their commute.

So if you’re riding the MRT-3 or LRT-2 this Tuesday, don’t forget to bring your National ID. Not only will you get a free ride, but you’ll also be reminded of the many ways this simple ID can make everyday life a little smoother.
