The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines recently shared an update regarding the ongoing construction of the Camp Aguinaldo Station, showcasing significant progress.
Spanning 33 kilometers with 17 stations from Valenzuela City to Parañaque City—and a branch line connecting to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA)—this P488-billion project marks the first-ever subway line in the Philippines. It aims to improve public transportation and help ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila.

The Metro Manila Subway Project began its construction in February 2019 and is expected to be fully operational by 2030 or 2031.
It is being implemented through Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) via the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) – Philippines Office’s STEP scheme. Meanwhile, its construction is handled by Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd.
