In a recent social media post, Maricar Reyes shared a beauty tip that she swears by. “Forgiveness is the best beauty product in the world, and bitterness is the ultimate pampapanget,” the actress began her statement.
According to her, forgiveness only becomes hard because of the misconceptions about it and continued on to enumerate four things that forgiveness is not.
First on her list is, “forgiveness is not forgetting.” She then related it to her personal past experiences. “Tingin niyo nakalimutan ko na lahat nang masamang nangyari sa akin? Hindi ah,” she said. “The difference is that hindi na gano’n kabigat ‘pag naaalala ko sila. That’s because I remembered, then I learned to adjust.”
Second, “forgiveness does not mean that wala nang consequences.” She explained, “years before my crisis, I told a lot of little lies and I never got caught. ‘Yung nangyari sa akin, I think it’s partially because of all these lies na nagpatong-patong buong buhay ko, tapos sumabog na lang siya sa mukha ko. It was my consequence for lying to myself and to others.” She emphasized, “bilog talaga ang mundo, maniwala kayo!”

Third, “forgiveness does not mean that I am better than the other person.” According to Maricar, this one is the most difficult “kasi feeling ko mas mabait ako doon sa kagalit ko.” Eventually, she realized that she wasn’t as “clean” as she thought she was, “at minsan nakakalimutan ko ‘yon kapag may nagkakamali sa akin.”
Finally, “forgiveness is not a ‘one-time, big-time’ thing.” She reminded everyone that “the deeper the hurt, the longer the process; so please be patient with yourself. Don’t stop trying.” When you feel bitterness again, her advice is to “forgive ulit.”
“Syempre gusto ko lahat tayo, maganda, at hindi nakakabeauty ang pagiging bitter,” she concluded.
