A post by Loyd Tolentino went viral after sharing an inspiring story of a food delivery rider he encountered. They were in a fast-food restaurant when he got curious about why the rider has not yet left to deliver his customer’s order. According to the cashier, the rider’s order was already complete. Tolentino went to ask and shared their exchange.
LOYD: Bakit ‘di ka pa umaalis, kumpleto na order mo?
RIDER: Wait lang po, sir. May gagawin lang ako.
As he went closer to the rider, Tolentino noticed that the guy was holding two mobile phones.
LOYD: Anong ginagwa mo?
RIDER: Nag-eexam ako, sir. May online exam kasi ako today.
Concerned, Tolentino went on to ask why the rider was working despite his urgent school requirement.
LOYD: Ba’t ka nag-Grab service ngayon, may exam ka pala?
RIDER: OK lang, sir. Saglit lang ito.
LOYD: Baka i-cancel ng customer and order niya, baka ma-late ang delivery!
RIDER: Na-inform ko naman po siya, sir.
LOYD: Anong course mo?
RIDER: Criminology, sir. Graduating na.
LOYD: Ah, I see. Sige, God bless!
Tolentino then left the rider to finish his exam which according to him did not take that long anyway. He also applauded the rider’s perseverance in handling both his work and studies at the same time. “Nakakatuwa dahil may mga taong nagsusumikap para sa pangarap nila, pinagsasabay ang pag-aaral at pagkita ng salapi,” Tolentino wrote in his post.
As a former working student himself, Loyd concluded the post: “Kahit anong hirap, gagawin para sa pangarap. Laban Lang! God bless you, kuya Grab rider!”
