As more and more beloved movies and television series from decades ago are getting rebooted, there’s no question that the idea of an “A Walk To Remember” remake have already entered the minds of certain people. But what does lead star Mandy Moore think about its possibility?
“I would love that,” she told a publication. She then spilled the tea on who she imagined would best portray the role of Jamie—and it’s none other than “Driver’s License” hitmaker Olivia Rodrigo!
“I don’t know, Olivia Rodrigo or something like that,” Moore said. “I would love to see it. It’s been long enough that, yeah, I feel like we’ve earned our place in cinematic history for a reboot at this point.”
“A Walk To Remember” is an adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name that premiered in 1999 and immediately earned critical acclaim. It follows the story of high school student Landon Carter (played by Shane West) who befriends and falls in love with Jamie, the church minister’s daughter who is often picked on by other students.
Both Moore and West commemorated the movie’s 20th anniversary last week by sharing old photos and writing sweet messages to their costars. They’ve also continued to melt the hearts of fans everywhere through the years by remaining close and supportive friends to one another—even admitting in one interview that they had a mutual crush on each other at the time of filming!
