Maine Mendoza had a few things to say to her fanbase who are still holding onto hope that her previous onscreen romance with Alden Richards is still very much alive and real.

In an interview with the press as captured by Rider PH Studios, Maine said that she knows the public clamor for a future project involving her and Alden won’t be going away anytime soon especially when they have amassed such a huge fanbase from their Eat Bulaga ‘Kalyeserye’ days.
“‘Di naman siguro mawawala yun kasi andami naring AlDub fans talaga before and, until now, sumusuporta sa amin ni Alden kahit magkaiba na projects namin,” Maine shared. “Sana dumating ang tamang panahon ulit in the future, pero sa ngayon kasi nag-eexplore pa kaming dalawa and, kami, andami dami naming sinusubukan, nabibigyan din kaming pareho ng chance to work with different actors, pareho din from different networks. So feeling ko mas okay yun kasi growth yun for the two of us.”
(“I don’t think it’s ever going away because there were really a lot of AlDub fans before and, until now, support Alden and me even if we’re working on different projects. I hope the right time comes again in the future, but for now, we are both exploring and trying out new things, and we’re both being given a chance to work with different actors from different networks. So I feel that’s more okay for us because it means growth for the two of us.”)
She also admitted that her friendship with Alden is much better now compared to when they were first paired as a love team.

“Kasi no pressure eh,” she said. “Kasi mahirap kasi before yung fans parang they were expecting a lot from us so parang kami napepressure kami kahit dun sa friendship namin parang ‘paano ba, paano ba tayo kikilos in front of the camera kung super mag-eexpect yung mga tao?’”
(“There’s no pressure. Because it was hard before with fans expecting a lot from us, so it put pressure on us even with our friendship. Like, ‘How? How do we act in front of the camera when you know people are super going to expect?'”)
In response to AlDub fans who continue to say and believe that they’re a real couple, Maine explained, “Kami naman ni Alden feeling ko ‘di naman kami nag-kulang. Kasi minsan nireremind naman namin sila. Kapag may chance, kinakausap naman namin, pero meron talagang ‘di naniniwala. So kung happy sila dun, hayaan nalang.”
(“Alden and I, I feel that we never failed [to tell them we aren’t a real couple]. Because sometimes we remind them. When we get the chance, we talk to them, but there really are people who don’t believe us. So if that’s what makes them happy, we just leave them be.”)
