When you do your research on makeup, you’ll most likely run into information about Ancient Egyptians. With black kohl heavily lined on eyelids and stained lips and cheeks, makeup was part of their everyday routine as it is in ours.
Enter Holly and Heather Spierings, the mother-daughter duo behind the makeup brand Eye of Horus.
When asked what words they associate their brand with, they said: beauty, confidence, and mystique, with the latter associating the most with the Egyptian concept. Though they started with skincare products, the two found out that they also needed makeup that would suit their sensitive eyes.
It doesn’t stop there, either. Recently, their product direction has been driven by the increase of the use of natural ingredients, the cruelty-free concept, and the lasting performance of products. With this comes the Goddess Bio Range makeup, Eye of Horus’ vegan makeup line.
Eye of Horus has been in partnership with Glamourbox for five years now, and they just released their new products during the latter’s 5th anniversary.

Just because the Egyptians were mostly known for their kohl eyeliner doesn’t mean Eye of Horus focuses solely on their eye makeup. During the launch, founders Holly and Heather said to keep an eye out for the concealers and illuminators they plan on releasing in the future.
For now, joining their Bio mascara in this vegan makeup line is their Bio lipstick. These long-wearing satin lippies come in six shades (in plums, pinks, and nudes) that are good for everyday wear.
From these six pretty colors, the shades Cleo Plum and Inanna Honey suit most Filipinas’ skin tones the most.
Other than giving color to your lips, these lipsticks also bring more life as they have plumping ingredients that can help nourish, smooth and volumise. Eye of Horus made sure to design these lipsticks to condition and hydrate.
The Bio lipstick’s paper packaging also adds to the vegan concept. (It is quite sturdy if you think about it. I didn’t even immediately notice when I first tried the product!)
As Lia, one of the founders of Glamourbox, says, “Kilay is life!” With everyone’s recent obsession with brows, Eye of Horus added their Goddess Brow Fibre Extend to their collection of eye makeup.
This brow mascara promises to give you fuller, thicker and volumised brows. Aside from that, it is also made to be long-lasting. Who would want to miss out on long-wearing brow mascara!?
This one comes in three shades – Dynasty (a medium brown shade), Nile (Dark Brown) and Husk (Ash Blonde.
