The 39,487 runners who crossed the finish line in this year’s London Marathon were cheered by no less than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (William and Kate Middleton) and Prince Harry.
For the first time ever, the three young royals cheered the participants of the marathon together.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry attended this year’s London Marathon together for the first time to raise awareness about their mental health campaign Heads Together, the Charity of the Year for the Marathon. Thus, all the runners got a special Heads Together headband that they can wear to help raise awareness in the national movement to end the stigma around mental health.

The Royal Family’s official Facebook page also posted Prince Harry’s recorded video message that announced their participation. “We want to use this moment to help end the stigma that stops people talking and change the conversation about mental health for good. You can make it the mental health marathon,” Prince Harry cited in his video message.

The three young royals have been very vocal about their own mental/emotional issues as well. They have even came out with a video where they can be seen talking candidly to each other about the death of Princess Diana in 1997 and how it affected William and Harry, as well as Kate’s post-pregnancy blues and parenting woes.
