It’s common for a lot of basketball fans to send their idols or favorite players special gifts. Most of them send candies, chocolates, clothes, letters or flowers. But Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki received something unusual and different.
The multiple-time NBA All-Star got a package in the mail containing a potato with a picture of him printed on it. He posted a photo of the potato on his official Twitter account.

The potato, many believe, was a gift to Nowitzki for reaching 30,000 points in his NBA career. He became the sixth player in league history to score that much points. The only other players to reach the 30,000 mark are Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
Apparently the package came from Potato Parcel, a business that sends people tricked-out potatoes through mail.

Interestingly, the concept of the business was pitched on the TV show Shark Tank, which Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is a part of. Unfortunately, Cuban wasn’t into the idea.
Oh well. At least Dirk appreciated it.
