It was a cold London afternoon in 1971 when two brothers, Bruno and Sergio Costa, decided to create something truly remarkable. Their love for premium coffee led them to open their very first café named, Costa Coffee.

Since then, Costa Coffee has become a leading global coffee shop brand with over 40 years of expertise. Their coffee is served in over 3,000 Costa stores around the world. The Costa brothers’ dream was to bring irresistible coffee and community spirit to the people of London. Today, the vision is bold and simple–to be the world’s favorite coffee shop brand. And, this year, this legacy finally arrived in the Philippine shores.

During the opening of Costa Coffee in Bonifacio Global City, invitees spent the afternoon #LondonStyle as they were immersed in the different sights and sounds of what it would be like to have coffee in the world’s cultural capital.

What is Flat White? Some might confuse it with Latte. While Latte is milky, has a little foam on top, and is like drinking milky coffee, Flat White, on the other hand, has an even mix of liquid milk, heated using a special technique resulting in a smooth, velvety texture and feels like drinking an espresso.

It actually takes a great deal of skill to produce a Flat White. Only the purest essence of the coffee bean is extracted, resulting in a short Espresso called Cortissimo. Each drink is hand-finished with a distinctive “florette” pattern.

For sandwiches, Melted Swiss Cheese with Mushroom is a must-try. Fans of both cheese and mushrooms will surely love this. However, the Philly Cheesesteak gives a heavier fill. This one guarantees a gratifying snack if paired with their Ice Shaken Brewed Teas.

To celebrate Costa Coffee’s commitment to serving only the finest brews, a worldwide competition is held every year where Costa Coffee baristas from every country compete to showcase the skills they have learned to make the best specialty drinks. This year, the Philippines is finally able to take part.

The competition, which started on October 6, held its final leg on the 26th of the same month, where the winners from Costa Coffee Eastwood and Costa Coffee Robinsons Place Manila competed for the chance to represent the country next year in Singapore.
