Experience Davao in the Metro at Hoy Panga! Bogart the Explorer’s New Restaurant

Being a YouTube prankster helped me open doors too meet other passionate YouTubers who share the same taste and interests. Today, we’ll explore fellow YouTuber Bogart the Explorer’s new restaurant, Hoy, Panga!

From YouTube to the restaurant scene, Bogart the Explorer from Davao City brings a taste of his hometown to the Metro with Hoy, Panga!, completely revolutionising the standards of tuna in Metro Manila.

Hoy, Panga! was founded by Kim Honasan and Nicky Sering in Davao City. This all started out as a joke while they were talking, but soon, they saw the actual possibilities and started to establish it. A few months later, Bogart the Explorer and Jako de Leon teamed up with them to bring Hoy, Panga! to the Metro. There are currently 2 branches here in Manila: one in Las Piñas and the other one in Katipunan Extension, Quezon City. We were given the privilege to visit the QC branch during its official launch!

The QC branch started out as a pick-up place. However, when people started sitting down and eating at the cold storage beside it, they decided to build an actual restaurant to fulfil their customers’ needs.

All of their employees are imported from Davao. Talk about dedication!

The guys utilized their wit to come up with new products, such as the Sionga and the Sioque (which Jako admitted they only came up with earlier that day haha). According to them, they formulated their menu organically, which means that the food completely depends on the environment that the branch is in. And FYI, all of their tuna comes from Davao to ensure the best quality. All the fish are flash frozen to keep them fresh once they hit the grill, as well. Now tell me if that ain’t Davao enough for you.

SioNga P20 – Each | P100 – Box of 6

Deep-fried Siopao with Tuna Panga filling. A new world will be unleashed when you first take a bite of this treasure. Deep frying the Siopao preserves the inner part of the bread, so that it stays chewy and creamy, while the tuna inside is as juicy as your first love. Enough saltiness and juiciness to complement one another. All in all, this is a total must-try!

Similar to the Sionga, but with a cheese filling inside. Honestly, I am not a cheese fan, but I came back the next day to buy a box of these babies anyway.
