Yesterday, the Philippine Entertainment industry mourned the death of one of the pillars of show business, German “Kuya Germs” Moreno. According to a statement shared by his nephew John Nite, he passed away due to cardiac arrest at the age of 82.
The statement read:
”He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry.”
Since then, celebrities, friends, and even those people whom he helped have expressed their sympathies and prayers across social media channels. One of them was, Billy Crawford.
Billy Crawford posted his touching message to his second father, Kuya Germs:
Pa, I don’t know where to begin. You’ve always been there when I needed you the most. You are the most generous, selfless, genuine, caring father/mentor anyone could ever ask for. You’re one of the reasons why I’m still in this industry you love oh so much. I’m sad that I’m not there next to you to say my goodbyes. You will be missed tremendously. We fought, we laughed, we cried, we sang, we danced and we shared the same stage for so many years! And I want to just thank you for teaching me and guiding me through everything. It hurts to see you leave us, but God is right there to make you rest and enjoy eternity with Him. I also pray for your family to be strong and to carry a smile like you always did. You will always be our MASTER SHOWMAN! Most importantly you will always be my father and I will always be your makulit na adopted son! RIP, Pa. I love you.????
As we all know, Billy Crawford was discovered and a regular talent in That’s Entertainment TV series. That’s Entertainment is a TV series that cultivated the talents of our favorite celebrities now like Francis Magalona+, Yayo Aguila, Aiko Melendez, John Arcilla, Dawn Zulueta, and more. The show also popularized different dance groups such as The Manoeuvres, Streetboys, Abztract Dancers, Kids at Work, UMD. They all became popular because of the show hosted by the Master Showman himself, Kuya Germs.
I arrived home today from our Christmas vacation to receive very sad news… The man I consider my second father, the man to whom I owe much of my success, Kuya German Moreno has passed away… I’m still stunned, finding it hard to believe that he’s gone now… Thank you for all the love and support you’ve showered on me… Rest in peace, Kuya Germs, I will miss you terribly ????

8. Janitor and Telonero (curtain raiser)
He worked as a Janitor and telonero (curtain raiser) of Clover Theater in 1957. This job led him to enter the entertainment industry. I remember he said during an interview, that the reason why he worked in a theater was because of the salary and he gets to watch movies for free. Such a simple guy.
After which, he landed his first stage play as “Jesus Christ” for a Lenten presentation.
And, the rest was history.
Kuya Germs was truly an inspiring person and a great example for everyone not to easily give up – that we can really achieve our dreams.
Respectfully, Kuya Germs was a host, a great friend, a loving brother, uncle, and most especially, a great person.
Truly, the heaven gained another angel. Rest In Paradise, Kuya Germs.
Personally, I would like to thank you for keeping my mom company when she couldn’t sleep at night. She loved your show, “Walang Tulugan.” I’m sure she’d be glad to meet you in Heaven.
