5 Things I Love About Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay

3. You get to taste food from all over the world.

As mentioned earlier, Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay has a Festive Market located at the Supertree Grove, where you can enjoy a wide selection of international cuisine and wines, as well as dining concepts from renowned food and beverage operators. Various festive treats are also served at the traditional wooden huts specially brought in from the United Kingdom for a real European feel. The Mini Pancakes from the Dutch Pancake Shop are absolute must-tries!

Janice Wong’s creations are so delicious, you shouldn’t miss them for the world. Aside from looking great and making for great gifts, they also taste heavenly. I’d highly recommend the Chocolate Chili Truffles, the mochis and the ice cream spiked with Guinness!

2. The Spiegeltent is there!!!

The Spiegeltent has also been sent to Singapore for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. In case you’ve never heard of it before, the Spiegeltent is a century-old travelling “mirror tent” from the Netherlands, which is commonly used for performances, but at Gardens by the Bay, it has been turned into a unique dining tent.

Here, you can savour festive delicacies amidst an ornate décor complete with brocade draperies, stained glass and beautifully handcarved artwork. The specially curated menu by Harry‟s include Smoked Duck Breast with Marmalade Glaze, Pineapple Honey Glazed Ham as well as Rudolph‟s Gingerbread and Raspberry Sundae.

A sumptuous weekend brunch spread is also available on Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Eve and Christmas day from 10.30am to 3pm.

1. Marvel at the lights.

Of course, the main attractions of Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay are their lights. It all starts the minute you walk in and goes all the way throughout the Gardens. The Italian Luminaries by Paulicelli Illuminations International are magnificent sculptures of light handmade by skilled craftsmen using white wood from the south of Italy.

This year’s lights feature an all-new architectural design reminiscent of the medieval period. The Spalliera and the Ice Palace entrace feature the tallest of these lights with towering ehights of over 20m. The Spalliera is also the biggest Luminarie and surrounds the Cassa Armonica, an 8m-wide beautifully illuminated gazebo. This is where the carollers perform from Tuesdays to Sundays.

Words really cannot describe what the Christmas light show is like at Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. You simply need to see it for yourself. People appreciate it in all sorts of different ways. I saw some people lying down on the floor and taking videos from that angle, while I saw couples having drinks and simply looking up to admire the lights.

For me, however, the ultimate experience of it was from high up above from the Supertree Grove. The experience is completely different from way up high compared to from down below. I tried both and being high up definitely wins hands down!
