On Thursday, September 30, opposition coalition 1Sambayan officially announced their endorsement of Vice President Leni Robredo as their presidential candidate for the upcoming 2022 national elections.
Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice and 1Sambayan lead convenor Antonio Carpio said in a media forum that they went through a rigorous process in making their decision.
“We consulted our local and foreign chapters as well as our partners together with our three million members,” he said.
However, the Vice President has not yet made announcements about her political plans for 2022.
In a statement on her official Facebook page, Vice President Robredo thanks 1Sambayan for the nomination and says that her decision to run must not be based on ambition. She then asks for her supporters to continue praying with her, that her decision will be best for the country.
Vice President Robredo is expected to announce her decision soon.
