The numbers of those under quarantine from The Medical City are steadily increasing, with 10 individuals placed in isolation just today. They were exposed to either one of the 18 COVID-19 patients or 54 persons under investigation (PUIs) admitted at the hospital.

Kahapon, ‘yung naka-quarantine naming mga doctors at saka nurses 140. Ngayon, tumaas nang 150,” Ramos told radio DZMM. “Nakakatakot na rin.” [Yesterday, the doctors and nurses in quarantine were 140. Now, it’s risen to 150. It’s getting scary.]

Alam mo ‘yung challenge is not like ‘yung number lang, [pero] ang exposure ng mga doctor at ang bilis ng kalat [nung virus]. And then, nauubos na ‘yung mga PPEs (personal protective equipment) namin. ‘Yung [mga] kuwarto nako-convert na para sa mga wards para lang sa mga COVID-19 [patients],” Ramos said.

[You know, the challenge is not just the numbers, but the exposure of doctors and the fast spread of the virus. And then, our PPEs are running out. Our rooms are being converted into wards just for COVID-19 patients.]

“[Since] we are running out all of these PPEs at saka itong mga exposure, na it’s best and it’s more efficient and it’s more effective to control the containment kung mayroon talagang ospital na dedicated,” Ramos said.

[Since we are running out all of these PPEs and facing exposure, it’s best and it’s more efficient and it’s more effective to control the containment if there’s a hospital that’s dedicated to COVID-19 patients.]

The Department of Health also announced on Friday at least 2 hospitals that would exclusively serve as health facilities for COVID-19 patients. However, hospitals continue to clamor for an even more comprehensive and unified approach towards addressing the pandemic.
