5. Brooke Davis is the greatest character that ever existed.

This may be a biased reason but Brooke Penelope Davis may just be the greatest character that ever existed. Since I just pointed out character developments, I feel like Brooke grew the most among the characters in the show. Who would have thought the shallow, party girl cheerleader would grow up to be the inspiring, strong, and independent woman that she is? Remember that she did not change overnight, though, because no one can. She had a long journey full of trials that she had to overcome, which only made her stronger in the end.

“Brooke Davis is gonna change the world someday.” And she did.

4. Relationships were truly valued.

One Tree Hill certainly showed the value of relationships, from the ever-so-debated Team Brucas or Team Leyton to the classic friendships of Laley (Lucas & Haley), Breyton (Brooke & Peyton), and Braley (Brooke & Haley) to the heartwarming relationship between Lucas and Karen. No matter what, they certainly made us feel like we were part of them.

3. They gave us Nathan and Haley.

2. They had the best playlists ever.

Can we all just agree that One Tree Hill played the best music ever? I can thank this show for probably 70% of my knowledge in music. Did you know that they played songs from Adele and Katy Perry long before they were famous?

1. They were family.

Last but definitely not the least, what makes One Tree Hill extra special is the OTH family, comprised of all of the dedicated fans who are the reason why this show still trends on Twitter. I have personally met the most wonderful people through this fandom. 

I can continue this list forever, but to sum it up, I chose the lyrics from Toad and the Wet Sprocket’s “Walk on the Ocean”. This was displayed in Clothes Over Bros and Karen’s Cafe.

One Tree Hill was more than just a show. For many us, it became an escape from reality. It was our safe haven when life just seemed like too much. The show taught us about life and how not to be afraid of it. It taught us what love, pain, and happiness are all about.

All the storylines, the laughter, and the tears the characters had showed; it all became ours. I felt it, we all felt it, and we still feel it. One Tree Hill may have ended a long time ago, but we can still always look back and relive the moments. This is our family, our safe place because there is only ONE Tree Hill and it is OUR home.
