YAY! We’re Sending our First Table Tennis Player to the Olympics!

DLSU’s Ian Lariba is in for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

After slipping past the women’s singles event at the ITTF-Asian Olympics Qualification tournament in Hong-Kong, Lariba earned the last slot to Rio where she will face the top table tennis players in the world in the 2016 Olympics.

According to reports, Lariba took the final slot in the women’s singles after beating Lilis Indriani of Indonesia, and will be the first Filipino to qualify for the table tennis event in the Olympics.

Before Lariba became the first table tennis player to hit the global sporting event, she was a two-time reigning UAAP women’s table tennis MVP and co-athlete of the year for UAAP season 78.
