Health authorities reported that there have been more than 400 cases of scarlet fever detected among children for the past six months. What’s worse is that in 2011 alone, two children have already died from the said disease. At present, scientists are looking into the possibility that a newer and more powerful strain of the virus has emerged.

Scarlet fever is caused by a bacteria known as Group A Streptococcus exotoxin and it can be cured with antibiotics. It usually attacks children below 10 years old. Its symptoms include fever, sore throat and rash. If your child is experiencing the following symptoms, consult your doctor immediately.
