San Beda confirms return of Boyet Fernandez

Boyet Fernandez is on his way back to Mendiola after a brief two year absence, replacing San Beda’s former head coach Jamike Jarin.
In a statement released on Monday, San Beda team manager Jude Roque confirmed the long floating rumor of Fernandez’s return to the Lions’ den.

“After consulting with the school president, MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan) confirmed last night the appointment of Boyet Fernandez as new Red Lions head coach. I got the call from MVP late last night,” Roque said.
Fernandez was expected to be San Beda’s top choice especially after the outspoken head coach was relieved off his duties with the NLEX Road Warriors.
In Fernandez’ two-year stay with the Lions, San Beda won back to back titles in 2013 and 2014, edging out Letran and Arellano, respectively.
Fernandez will also be handling the San Beda-backed Cignal squad in the PBA D-League which will start on January 21.
“It’s a logical choice especially with the newly formed Cignal-San Beda D-League team, which Boyet will also handle,” Roque added.
