One Direction Gets New Replacement for Zayn – And He’s Filipino!

Brace yourselves….. “PROUD TO BE PINOY” messages are coming…..

When in Manila, Pinoy Directioners have experienced a series of setbacks–starting with the sad news of Zayn Malik not making it to #OTRAMANILA, followed by his announcement that he’s leaving the band for good.

There have been a lot of speculation regarding what will become of One Direction. Will they go on with only four members? Or will they scout for a new member? Finally, Pinoy Directioners could could hear slightly better news!

Our source, requesting anonymity due to the management’s unfinalized plans, hinted about a Filipino singer being pegged to try out as the new member.  He said:

The management wants to make it up to the Filipino fans for what happened during the concert. Fans were devastated all over the world, but the Filipino Directioners took the biggest blow. Zayn’s absence was only announced a few days before. They didn’t have enough time to process it.

It all started out as a plan to have a local singer sing Zayn’s lines during the concert. But then we remembered how the set-up for Arnel Pineda in Journey was hugely successful. We thought that it was a strategic idea to scout for talent here. You have Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda, Lea Salonga. I’ve never meet a Filipino who doesn’t like to sing!

He shared that Jovit Baldivino is one of the singers being considered:

Like the rest of the band, he started out in a talent show as well. I’m sure they’ll have a lot in common. The way Jovit sings Faithfully makes us believe he will be really faithful to the band as well. His crazy talent and stage presence will also be hard to beat.

Asked when we will have confirmation regarding this, our source said that it is way too early to tell. For the meantime, he requests fans to remain supportive and hopeful.

I understand it’s really difficult. You put your trust and excitement on a band, and experience disappointment like this. It’s just a difficult time for them right now, but I know they will all come out stronger than ever–hopefully with a Filipino singer in the band this time around.

Pressed for a specific date for the finalization of plans, our source reminded us, “We hope to make a final announcement by end of day, April 1”

Hope all Pinoys post your afterthoughts primarily rooted in love for our 1D label studs!
