Clueless About Sushi? “Sushi University” In Japan Will Help You Learn All About It

This just may be the next hottest tourist attraction in Japan!

Omakase

One of the most worthwhile pursuits while in Japan is to visit an authentic omakase — a Japanese tasting menu of sorts where diners leave their food choices up to the chef. Yet many Japanese chefs speak very little English, which can be hard for tourists to navigate through the waters of authentic Japanese dining. After all, it can be cause for concern if you don’t know what you’re eating, and how to eat it. And of course, we may be enacting gestures that could be construed as offensive to the chef and other local diners!

Fret no more, as “Sushi University” is to the rescue! “Sushi University” is a new tour group led by English-speaking interpreters who can guide guests on the do’s and don’ts of omakase dining, and will be the bridge of communication between the chef and the diner. These guides will accompany their guests from the hotel to the restaurant.

Aside from English, “Sushi University” also offers tours in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, simplified Chinese, Korean and Thai.
