Charlie’s Grind and Grill – Still Home of the Good Burgers
Charlie’s Kapitolyo
When In Manila, you will notice the abundance of burger joints and restaurants all over. We have evolved from Burger Machine, Scotty’s, and Minute Burger, seeing that we have more options aside from the usual cheese burgers from fast food restaurants.
If you are a burger lover, you have probably heard of Charlie’s Grind and Grill. What started out as a burger joint beside a car wash is now one of the go-to’s when it comes to good, satisfying burgers.
As part of our Tarsdi lunch breaks, Mimai and I visited Charlie’s Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo, Pasig. Hearty hearty lunch!
The mermaid and I – that’s me with awesome green-haired photographer and fellow WIM writer, Mimai
We tried some of the best sellers from Charlie’s Kapitolyo. After our mini feast, we fully understood why they were best sellers! Need proof? I went back a few days later to get some truffle fries. We also visited their Greenhills branch last Sunday to satiate our cravings. If this is not an epitome of hooked then I don’t know what is.

Charlie’s Truffle Fries – seriously good stuff
One bite and I was instantly hooked. That’s how I’ll describe their truffle fries. I know, it’s just patatas. But it’s potato cooked in truffle oil! Gaah. I don’t know how truffle oil does it, but it really adds some oomph to the fries. It’s really good stuff. Try it and see for yourself what I’m talking about. If I were limited to ordering just one item from Charlie’s, it will be their truffle fries.
Reversed buffalo wings
Charlie’s Chicago
Aside form burgers and fries, Charlie’s is also home to good buffalo wings and hot dog sandwiches. For regular buffalo wings, you can have it in sweet, hot, and nuclear. We had the reversed buffalo wings – reversed ’cause instead of having the blue cheese as dip and the chili sauce as coating, it was made the other way around. The wings were cooked just right, and the sauce and cheese complimented each other.
And now for Charlie’s Burgers!
Charlie’s Beer Burger
Angus Burger with Portobello Mushrooms
By now you’d all know that Chef Roby Goco’s Charlie’s Grind and Grill has gained fame from all over the metro for their big, juicy, gourmet burgers. I had the Angus Burger with Portobello Mushrooms, while Mimai had the Charlie’s Beer Burger. As expected, both were huge, juicy, and not to mention TASTY! On top of my burger was a Panko-crusted, cheese-stuffed deep fried portobello mushroom, which blended well with the angus beef. It gave my burger a distinct taste, making it more adorable. Mimai, on the other hand, enjoyed her Beer Burger – a generous serving of angus beef patty with sauce made from San Miguel beer. She’s allergic to alcohol but (thank God) the slight serving didn’t hurt her. The alcohol, she said, wasn’t overpowering, and was just enough to give her burger a certain kick.
Our “mini” feast
Overall I can say that Charlie’s hasn’t lost its pizazz throughout the years. Their gourmet burgers are still gourmet, and you’ll get value for your money because they only serve the real thing. Not to mention that their service is fast. When in Manila and craving for seriously good burgers and fries, visit Charlie’s Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo. If it’s your first time to go there, let me advise you that one bite is enough to get you hooked.
