Benefits of Muay Thai for Women – Elorde Boxing Gym Alabang

It’s amazing how many women I’ve seen taking up Muay Thai at the Elorde boxing gym in Alabang. I myself have enjoyed my Muay Thai sessions a great deal. Now on my second month of boxing and Muay Thai training, My punches are getting stronger and my kicks are getting harder too. I hear my shin hit the mitts with a strong sound and I can’t help but feel proud of myself and just even more determined to keep getting better and better. For those of you who are reluctant or curious even as to why I enjoy this type of sport, let me give you a quick rundown on the benefits of Muay Thai and Boxing.

Physical Benefits:

I get an intense Full body workout. Muay Thai involves a lot of kicks and punches that work out your abs, arms, legs, butt, back, yep, your whole body! I remember how on my first day I was only able to stay in the ring for two rounds of 3 minute sessions but now, I can go up to 6. It’s increased my stamina which allows me to stay in the ring longer and it’s made me stronger meaning my punches and kicks keep getting better. You ladies are also going to love the fact that Muay Thai also helps improve muscle tone allowing us to say goodbye to flabby underarms and legs and say hello to more toned muscles. It also helps with your overall body coordination. You respond quicker, for example, when we do the mitts, sometimes, I just see how the mitt is positioned and even before my trainer gives me the combination he wants me to do, I already know which punches I need to throw.

Health Benefits:

Muay Thai is a GREAT stress reliever. For one, when I’m training, there’s just no room to think about other things, my mind is focused on just getting better at this sport. When I get on the speedball and start punching, the beat actually gets me to relax and I just can’t help but want to punch it at a quicker and yet constant pace. Scientifically, your body also increases endorphins during intense exercises and the raised level of endorphins actually help you feel great! If that’s not enough, simply by looking at the mirror and seeing the changes in your body can help make you feel good about yourself too.

And of course, one of the main benefits of Muay Thai for women is self-defense. I don’t have to tell you that it’s a a crazy world out there so it’s good to know that if and when the time comes, you’ll at least have a good go and perhaps put up a good fight when danger strikes.
