Peace and Serenity. If you have been living in the city all your life, “Peace and Serenity” is definitely something that you would treasure… Just a minute, just a moment of it is bliss. What if I tell you that you would wonderfully experience that kind of pure bliss in THE PEACOCK GARDEN Boutique Hotel and Spa on top of a hill in Bohol?
As soon as we arrived Tagbilaran airport, we were welcomed by a friendly staff from The Peacock Garden. We were also given cold bottled water and cold towels to freshen up and be more relaxed as we drove another 20 minutes to the resort, where another refreshment awaits. It’s all about hospitality and fine service at The Peacock Garden.

Luxury at its finest. As soon as you enter the imperial grounds of The Peacock Garden, you will feel its majestic beauty that surrounds the entire resort. With antiques and the owner’s personal honorary collections going way back from the 1800’s, which he collected from his world tour, royal luxury is at full display all over the place. Even the chairs and cabinets used at the dining room are from Mr. Schoof’s collection. Just a teeny bit of fact: those chairs with leather details are the very chairs from different castles and mansions in Europe from the late 1800s.

Love Story. Mr. Schoof, the German owner, has been on his world tour, where he was able to collect most of his prized possessions when he came to the Philippines and fell in love with a Filipina, a Boholano to be specific. Due to this fortunate event, this became his last pit stop and built his ultimate dream of having a restaurant on top of a hill. Nevertheless, that dream was exponentially materialized into the grandest resort in Bohol, and the rest is history.

Postcards, fencing swords, fraternity hats/berets displayed in the main dining room are all from 1800s-1900s. The piano is a rare “Wilhelm Rudolph, Giessen” work of art from 1851 with a candle holder that is made from pure brass. It works, but of course, given the age, it is already out of tune.

You must be guessing why this sala set is cordoned off. It must be extra special isn’t it? Well, this is only THE actual living room set of Dr. Jose Rizal when he was still living in Old Heidelberg, Germany, which was given to Mr. Schoof as a gift by the Knights of Rizal, where he is still a very active member.
The saying on top of the cabinet on the left containing mugs from different countries means: “Let us rejoice while we are still young.”
