Catriona wasn’t the only beauty queen who broke off from her relationship. Recently, it was confirmed that Pia Wurtzbach has split up with race car driver Marlon Stockinger after being in an off and on relationship for almost three years. Sources claimed it was due to Marlon being “jobless,” but Pia issued an official statement disproving the rumors.

29. GirlTrends goes viral for their unsynchronized dance performance
Girl group GirlTrends quickly became internet memes after video clips of a series of unsynchronized dance performances on It’s Showtime trended online. They have long been criticized for it and it even led to Dawn Chang, who is a professional dancer, to quit the group.
28. Jelai Andres exposes Jon Gutierrez
Internet celebrity Jelai Andres shocked fans in March 2019 after she revealed to the public through a Facebook Live that her husband, Jon Gutierrez (aka King Badger of Ex-Battalion), had been having an affair with another woman. They ended their relationship after that and it’s unclear if they will get back together again. However, in October, the two had a surprise reunion during YouTube vlogger Zeinab Harake’s Meet and Greet and the sweet moment prompted fans to think that the couple was ready to rekindle their romance. Both Jelai and Jon denied the rumor.
27. Arianne Bautista exposes Nico Fowler
Another celebrity involved in a cheating scandal this year was model-actor Nico Fowler who was exposed by his girlfriend Arianne Bautista for having multiple affairs with women. She posted screenshots of his many lewd conversations and wrote a long rant (now deleted) on Facebook. Prior to their breakup, the two kept their relationship private due to Nico’s request to “protect” his career. Nico has since issued a public apology.
26. Yeng Constantino comes under fire for “doctor shaming”
Yeng Constantino came under fire after she complained about the Dapa Siargao Hospital for allegedly not giving her husband immediate attention after he injured himself while cliff diving. She also expressed frustration about the medical equipment and lack of staff, among others. She also posted a photo of a doctor, the OIC Chief of Hospital of Siargao District Hospital, who she claimed had displayed a lack of concern and urgency over her husband’s injury.
Due to the backlash she received, Yeng took down her posts and issued a public apology.
25. Goin’ Bulilit ends after 14 years
The country’s longest-running gag show for kids has been taken off the air after 14 years. Goin’ Bulilit gave rise to a few of today’s notable young stars including Kathryn Bernardo, Nash Aguas, Alexa Ilacad and Jane Oineza. It broadcasted its last episode on August 4.
24. Ethel Booba announces pregnancy
Ethel Booba surprised everyone in the audience of It’s Showtime when she revealed that she was already six months pregnant. “Double celebration, double congratulations to me,” she had said about her pregnancy and about being crowned champion of Tawag ng Tanghalan Celebrity edition.“Ito na nga, six months na [This is it, I’m six months pregnant],” she shared.

After debuting on worldwide streaming site Netflix, local horror film Eerie gained international recognition for being a film “so terrifying that you’ll want to keep your lights on,” according to various international news sites including Elle, The Independent, Buzzfeed, and The Sun. The film stars Bea Alonzo and is directed by Mikhail Red.
21. Philippine remake of Descendants of the Sun reveals its lead cast
One of the highly anticipated television series right now is the Philippine remake of beloved Korean drama Descendants of the Sun of which the lead cast has been revealed this year—Dingdong Dantes as Captain Lucas aka Big Boss, Jennylyn Mercado as Dr. Maxine Dela Cruz, Rocco Nacino as Diego Ramos, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith as Moira Defensor. There is still no word when it will air, though fans are enjoying the many behind-the-scenes footages that the cast has been sharing online in the meantime.
