Country Manager and Editor of Yahoo Philippines Kate delos Reyes and Country Sales Director Mike Constantino unveiled the concept behind the change of the name. Formerly known as the Yahoo OMG! Awards, they said that they wanted the Yahoo Celebrity Awards to be a reflection of the site – the only award’s show powered by YOU.

Also, they showed the ways on how you can vote for your favorites among their 140 nominees and 28 categories.  Just go to yahoo.com.ph/celebrityawards and you will be greeted by the voting page. It’s as simple as clicking the voting tab, and you’re good to go! Only one vote per day per medium per category is allowed. You can vote through your desktop, phone or tablet so you can conveniently vote anytime, anywhere! Voting is until July 12 and the winners will be awarded at the awards’ night on July 18 at the MOA Arena Stadium. The best part is that fans will get free tickets for the big night! You can claim the tickets at SM Tickets.

In addition to this feature on the site, you can also ‘request’ for the celebrities that you want to be seen at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards. The voting page features the By Request, and you can click on that button to submit whoever your request for the night may be!

Another highlight of the event was the launch of the Yahoo-on-the-Road Bus, a Campus Tour that will rove around different schools from Metro Manila to encourage the biggest users of the internet, the youth, to participate in the annual event.

But the biggest moment of the night was naming beautiful Marian Rivera as the Media Magnet of the Year. This award is given to the most appealing and most talked about celebrity of the year.
