Han So-hee, who takes on the bad-ass lead role in the series, adds, “Jiwoo has to witness her father’s death at a very young age, and she has no choice but to go on this path. I feel for her, but at the same time, I admire her determination and the strength that she carries.” Here’s why you should watch it:

Female Empowerment

Park Hee-soon, who plays the role of Choi Moo-jin, in the show, points out that dark noir is usually very macho and revolves around a mens’ world. “When I read the script for My Name, I thought it was very original because the main character is female,” he says. “All of those complex emotions that come from unfolding her story as well as the dynamic characters we see, I could feel the passion and heat in that story.” And you will definitely feel the passion and the heat as you watch My Name. In fact, I guarantee that you will be cheering for So-hee as she kicks butt and fights so hard to move forward. There are a lot of empowering scenes in this show that will make you applaud her skills. It definitely made me want to be as strong and as bad-ass as her!

Great Female Lead

Having said that, Hee-soon points out that My Name features the hottest actress in Korea today, So-hee. “This is a series for So-hee and by So-hee,” he raves. “I hope you can check it out and enjoy the series.”

Amazing Director

Hee-soon raved about Director Kim during the press con. “Director Kim Jin-min did an amazing job in directing Extracurricular, so I had great trust in him.” Ahn Bo-hyun chimes in and adds that he is also a huge fan of the director and the series Extracurricular. “I read the script in one sitting and I always wanted to do an action noir,” he says.

Kick-Ass Action Scenes

I’m a sucker for action, so when I started watching My Name, I was at the edge of my seat, clapping my hands and applauding. Everyone does such an awesome job and there are so many action-packed scenes to look forward to. Bo-hyun explains that everyone went through extensive training and action schools for the show, and this is evident in the fast-paced action you will see when you watch it. “I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of action before, but this is a whole new level of action. We all did our best and I hope you enjoy our show,” Bo-hyun says proudly.

The Actors’ Dedication

Doing an action series is definitely no walk in the park. So-hee actually had to start training a month before her male co-stars to gain 10kg of muscle, and she opened up about how hard it was to get things right, especially when doing choreography with other cast members. Bo-hyun adds, “I worked out and gained weight for the role,” while Chang Ryul, who plays Do Gang-jae, worked hard to lose weight to be more like Gangjae on the outside. “Bo-hyun helped me a lot in the process,” he adds. All’s well that ends well, though. According to Bo-hyun, the cast was able to easily develop a sense of camaraderie thanks to their two months of intense training.

Director Kim is very glad that they were able to finish the series without any major injuries. “I think that shows how much effort we put into it,” he says. Make sure to watch it on Netflix once it starts showing on October 15.
