Chace Crawford may now be proving he is definitely cut out for the drama of heroics with his role on Amazon’s The Boys but for those of you who don’t remember, this was actually first noticed by Marvel Studios a good 9 years ago. He was one of the most-talked about prospects to play Captain America a.k.a Steve Rogers. But as it turns out, he was never even given the chance to do his screen test.

Apparently, Marvel Studios was in talks with Crawford regarding an audition for the role (they even had a suit specially made for him!) but ultimately did not allow him to screen test for the role.
On an interview with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Crawford explains: “I did have a screen test for that [Captain America] back in the day but they actually didn’t let me do it because they realized I was on a show in New York for nine months of the year [meaning Gossip Girl].”
“A buddy of mine told me he went in there and they had a suit made with my name on it, and a whole thing. After nine films you’re thinking ‘Oh man, I would’ve loved a shot at that,” Crawford continues.
It looks like things all worked out for the best, in the end. We got Chris Evans and “America’s Ass” while Chace had an iconic run of 6 seasons as Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl. He now also boasts a role on the widely popular superhero series, The Boys.
