After long, long years of waiting, IKEA Philippines is finally opening to the Filipino public on November 25 and, according to what we’ve seen so far from pictures and video tours online, there’s definitely so much to look forward to! Spanning two floors consisting of a market hall, showrooms, and IKEA-owned restaurants, as well as a huge warehouse and its own parking space, Filipinos truly lucked out to be the very first to ever set foot in the largest IKEA branch in the whole world.
As we all are counting down the days ’til we get to personally see for ourselves what this renowned furniture store has to offer, here’s your sneak peek at what it looks like inside IKEA Manila:
There are various showrooms that you can get inspiration from if you’re unsure how to furnish your spaces with IKEA furniture yet. IKEA Philippines showcases spaces that could be lived in by people with different lifestyles and home settings–whether they’re a family with kids, a couple, a work-from-home artist,
The Market Hall
The market hall beyond the showrooms is really where you’ll have to withhold yourself because of how all the available IKEA furniture is displayed and ready for you to take home. Each section is massive and if you went without any inkling of what style you want for your home, you’re guaranteed to feel overwhelmed. But hey, that just makes window shopping for hours, especially if you have a friend or loved one with you, extremely fun!
And here’s a tip for the young at heart: don’t miss the children’s section if you want to take home IKEA’s collection of stuffed animals. (Unfortunately, the iconic Djungelskog Brown Bear isn’t available in store so far.)
Possibly everyone’s favorite section would be the “Every product under PHP 100” where you can snag plenty of cool storage items, cutlery, cleaning tools, and so much more for your house.
The Circular Hub
Here’s another section that you can’t afford to miss! The Circular Hub is situated near the check-out counters where you can score IKEA items that did not pass quality checks (due to faultiness, imperfections, stains, etc.) for a discounted price! The catch is that you have to take them home as-is, so you’ll need to figure out how to bring home these fully-assembled furnitures on your own.
Tons of check-out counters!
The IKEA food and restaurant
And finally, the one thing everyone’s been waiting for the most: the food of IKEA! Near the check-out counters is the food section where you can bring home pre-packaged meals and snacks as well as the IKEA Bistro where you can buy cooked food to go after you’re done shopping. Some of the dishes they have on their menu are Baked Salmon, Toast with sausage patty set, Mushroom Soup, breads like Whole Wheat Pandesal and Butter Croissant, and the iconic Swedish Meatballs.
Near the Bistro is a self-serve ice cream machine where you can grab a cone of soy-based vanilla soft serve for just PHP 10. A cool treat to refresh you before heading out!
If you want to relax while eating, though, you can just head over to the IKEA Restaurant on the top floor. It’s a cafeteria-style place where you line up with your trolley and choose which dishes that are available that day you want to eat before heading to the cashier and then to your seat.
