With the latest season of Game of Thrones underway, fans have been in a frenzy. All things Game of Thrones are popping up all over social media–from fanart, to fanfiction, to songs, and even parodies. And where there are trends on the internet, there’s sure to be a Pinoy contribution to it.
While we’re used to Pinoy humor being injected into international trends, there are also many times when real Pinoy talent is shared across the globe.

This Pinoy version of the Game of Thrones theme is one great example.
It’s not your usual musical cover, because this one is done with ethnic Filipino musical instruments.

This amazing cover was done by Kontra-GaPi, the resident ethnic music and dance ensemble of the University of the Philippines College of Arts and Letters.
Their use of truly Pinoy musical instruments really adds a great twist to the Game of Thrones theme that we know.
With a theme song like this, maybe a Pinoy version of Game of Thrones wouldn’t be so bad after all.
