The hosts, judges, and audience of the noontime variety show It’s Showtime! were in for a surprise on Monday, June 29, when they had welcomed the father of former IV of Spades vocalist, Unique Salonga, to the stage as a contestant of the singing contest Tawag ng Tanghalan.
Randy Salonga proved to everyone that his son got his love of singing from him as he blew the judges away with his rendition of classic hits “Sa Ugoy ng Duyan” and “One Day in Your Life.”
In the end, he won against his competitor and garnered a spot at the weekly final!

Winners of this refreshed version of Tawag ng Tanghalan get to win a cash prize as well as bring aid to their barangay. According to Randy, he hopes to provide hygiene kits for the market vendors in his barangay in Quezon City.
