One of the movies we’re excited for this year is Detective Pikachu, the live-action adaptation based on the Pokemon series.
The trailer has been released and you can watch it below:
Detective Pikachu will see the Pokemon helping a young boy find his missing father. The title is originally a video game where a talking Pikachu partners with a boy to solve cases revolving other Pokemon.
Ryan Reynolds will be providing the voice for the electric Pokemon, and he will be joined by Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton. Smith will play the young boy, while Newton will play a journalist who will help Pikachu and Smith.
Of course, Reynolds is perfect for the role. His comedic timing (in both his social media and role in Deadpool) is impeccable and he has done voiceovers for animated films in the past, including Family Guy and The Croods.
Detective Pikachu will be released in May 9, 2019.
