Car aficionados may remember Cars, the Disney-Pixar movie that came out in 2006. In the movie, we were introduced to Lightning McQueen, a racecar who stumbles onto Radiator Springs, a rundown desert town. There, he learns that there are more important things than fame and trophies, and makes friends along the way. It spawned a series of sequels and spin-offs, and the third installment’s trailer just dropped!

The teaser trailer doesn’t say much, but fans will know that it will follow McQueen as he struggles to keep up with a new generation of racecars. He teams up with Cruz Ramirez, an ambitious race technician, to get back in the game.
The first Cars was released to critical acclaim, with Rotten Tomatoes saying that it “offers visual treats that more than compensate for its somewhat thinly written story, adding up to a satisfying diversion for younger viewers.” In 2007, it was nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song for “Our Town.”
The cast was voiced by Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Larry the Cable Guy, Tony Shalhoub, and Jay Leno, a car enthusiast.
A sequel called Cars 2 was released in 2011, followed by the spin-off Planes and its sequel Planes: Fire and Rescue.
The first two Cars movies were directed by John Lasseter, but Cars 3 will be directed by Brian Fee. It will premiere on June 16, 2017.
