One of the movies we’re excited for is Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, which follows the titular character and Vanellope von Schweetz as they go online when a Wi-Fi router gets plugged into the arcade they live in. The movie is enjoying a lot of buzz because it’s reuniting the official Disney Princesses, and we got to see them in a new trailer.
What makes their scene even more special is that it addresses the thing that ties them all together. Watch below to see what we mean:
In the latter part of the trailer, Vanellope enters the dressing room of the Disney Princesses. She says that she is a princess, too, but the other ladies question her status. They ask her a series of questions related to their own story, until Tangled‘s Rapunzel asks, “Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big strong man showed up?” When Vanellope answers yes, they declare that she is a princess.
Very meta.
The first Wreck-It Ralph was met with commercial and critical success, receiving nominations for Best Animated Feature Film at both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Rotten Tomatoes says that it is “Equally entertaining for both kids and parents old enough to catch the references, Wreck-It Ralph is a clever, colorful adventure built on familiar themes and joyful nostalgia.”
The sequel will premiere on November 21, 2018.
