WATCH: Man Does The ‘Naruto Run’ Past Reporter At Storm Area 51 Event

A few weekends ago, one of the most viral and meme-able events took place at Area 51, the top secret US Air Force facility. What began as a joke on Facebook quickly picked up traction and led to people actually seeing it through. So although the ‘Storm Area 51’ Facebook event was actually ‘cancelled’ on the social media platform, that didn’t stop enthusiasts from showing up at the military base with their alien flags, costumes, and creative signs.

One thing that shows just how big of a meme the whole thing was is this man’s brave Naruto run. For those who don’t know, the Naruto run is a style of running fashioned after anime character Naruto.

It describes a kind of run where you lean forward with your arms stretched out behind you. You can imagine that anyone doing it would look pretty out of place during a live news broadcast, but that’s exactly what happened.

As news reporter Joe Bartels reported live for KNTV at Rachel, the closest habitation to Area 51, an unidentified man was brave enough to Naruto run behind him. He probably did so in reference to the original event’s description which read: If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let’s see them aliens.” Though the KNTV news reporter fails to react on air, the move was widely appreciated by netizens and became another meme in itself.
