Students of UP Los Baños, Ateneo de Manila and De La Salle University – Dasmariñas have done it. De La Salle University-Manila students have joined in the fun, too!

Videos uploaded by DLSU-M students reveal students “running like Naruto” (or what is also called as “Run Like Boruto’s Dad“) yesterday afternoon inside the campus. Non-participants and witnesses are seen cheering for their fellow students and friends.

Everything began with an event created on Facebook by Lanz Bulay, a third year BS – Information Technology student.

“I created the event. The other universities did the run like Boruto’s dad, so naisip ko why not do it here at DLSU? So nagsched ako (the event) ng 4 pm yesterday, then dahil marami nagrequest ng part 2 nagsched ako ulit ng 6 pm. Doon mas maraming nagrun,” he shares to WHEN IN MANILA.

Marius Rosopa, a 4th year BS in Statistics major in Actuarial Science major, participated in the run yesterday.
“Syempre, the whole experience was fun. Nainggit ako nung una kasi nagkaroon na sa UPLB and Ateneo, even sa DLSU-D, so syempre (I thought)  why not sa DLSU-M? Then yun nga, when I knew may Naruto Run sa Henry Sy (grounds), even ang break ko lang is 15 minutes, I hurriedly went down and grabbed the opportunity to run kasi I never get to run like that (haha!). Sobrang saya niya tapos ang maganda pa doon sobrang supportive nung mga Lasallians. Grabe ang dami nilang nagchi-cheer, tapos nagda-drums pa yung cheerleading squad ng DLSU, para talagang may event! So yun, it was really really fun!”

Then there, when I knew a Naruto Run would happen in Henry Sy (grounds), even if my break was only 15 minutes, I hurriedly went down and grabbed the opportunity to run because I never get to run like that (haha!). It was so much. What’s nice was that the Lasallians were very supportive. Grabe, so many of them were cheering, drumbeats were being played by the cheerleading squad of DLSU, it’s as if it’s a legit event. So there, it was really really fun!)

Claudine Ng, a BS Marketing Management student of DLSU, shared to WHEN IN MANILA her experience as an spectator.

“The original one was set last week but it was scheduled on a Friday morning so no one appeared. Someone made another event and it was pretty successful and fun although it was very quick. The event is called run around CADS but they just ran across then straight to Yuchengco Building then went back from the same path. They did it about 3 times. I heard they scheduled another round but I had to go home.”

Claudine found it amusing how the Animo Squad (DLSU’s cheering team) joined in the fun by playing beats what gave the event “more hype”.

“Some that participated wore funny costumes or had props like Wowowee jacket, made low-cost cosplay naruto hair, etc.!”
