The American Embassy in Manila announced that the additional aid would be used to provide for laboratory and specimen-transport systems and help health professionals enhance case-finding and disease surveillance.

It will also intensify infection control by boosting capacities in more than 100 hospitals across the country with the most up-to-date COVID-19 infection prevention and control information and skills. Risk preparedness and crisis communications will be enhanced by supporting DOH communication platforms.

USAID also aims to strengthen supply chain management by helping DOH develop and launch a nationwide commodity and logistics tracking tool that offers real-time data on stores of life-saving COVID-19 commodities.

Lastly, it will expand community access to water, sanitation, hygiene services, and commodities to prevent the spread of the virus.
