The University of the Philippines Civil Engineering Society (UPCES) spearheads Colloquia 2022 with the theme Digging Deeper: A Groundbreaking Exposition on Geotechnical Engineering and its Relevance on October 8-9, 2022.
Colloquia 2022 aims to broaden the knowledge of students on geotechnical engineering, its vital functions as a field within civil engineering, and the current trends and development in the discipline.
As the event commemorates its 11th year of establishment, from the previous Luzon-wide scope that accommodated graduating civil engineering students only, Colloquia expands its reach as it caters to all civil engineering students nationwide.
This year’s Colloquia is restructured into a two-day webinar series through Zoom App and Facebook Live and will feature geotechnical engineers who will impart knowledge and significant experiences in the field of geotechnical engineering through a series of discussions and question-and-answer portions.
The following professionals are the guest speakers of the event: Engr. Andre C. Cruz, geotechnical engineer (consultant) of E.H SISON Engineers, Co., Engr. Marvin Jay Austria, lead engineer for Soil Improvement and Business Development of BAUER Foundations Philippines, Inc., Engr. Noreen Ann Eleine A. Tarac, lead design engineer of BAUER Foundations SPhilippines, Inc., and Engr. Benjamin Agraam Jr., senior engineer of Penta-Ocean Construction Co. Ltd., Singapore.
Engr. Cruz and Engr. Austria will grace the first day of the event and will talk through the technology and innovation in geotechnical engineering and deep foundation innovations, respectively.
On the second day, Engr. Tarac and Engr. Agraam will discuss soil improvement techniques and temporary earth retaining structures for deep excavations, respectively.
