UP Math Club Launches the 13th Nationwide Search for the Little Math Wizard

The adventure continues! This November 15, 2025 (Saturday), the University of the Philippines Mathematics Club (UPMC) once again takes flight in search of the nation’s brightest young mathematicians at the 13th Annual Nationwide Search for the Little Math Wizard, to be held at the University of the Philippines Diliman.

This year’s theme brings everyone to the Sky Islands — a world where numbers fly, formulas float, and wizards rise above challenges! Young math enthusiasts from Grades 4 to 6 in DepEd-recognized schools across the country are invited to join this magical journey that celebrates learning, problem-solving, and the boundless wonder of mathematics. Endorsed by the UP Diliman Institute of Mathematics, UP Diliman College of Science, Mathematical Society of the Philippines, and Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute, the Little Math Wizard continues to be one of the most anticipated math events in the country.

The contest consists of two phases: a written Elimination Round, where only the top 30 contestants will advance, and a Finals Round, an exciting live raise-board and buzzer competition divided into three stages — the Apprentice Round, the Sorcerer Round, and the Wizard Round, each with questions of varying difficulty.

Winners will earn the coveted titles of Little Math Wizard, Little Math Sorcerer, and Little Math Apprentice for the first, second, and third places, respectively. Winners will also receive the following prizes:

  • First Place: Php 8,000.00

  • Second Place: Php 5,000.00

  • Third Place: Php 3,000.00

All bona fide students from Grades 4, 5, or 6 enrolled in any DepEd-accredited elementary school in the Philippines are eligible to participate. Each participating school may send up to 20 contestants.

Moreover, independent participants who wish to compete without school representation are now allowed. Individual participants must have at least one (1) parent or legal guardian to serve as their coach and submit the same requirements as non-independent participants, with their parent or guardian officially acting as their coach. Should the school of the individual participant decide to join the competition, the individual participant will automatically become a representative of their respective participating school.
