“Sino” hitmaker Unique Salonga has issued an official statement on his Facebook page regarding defamatory posts that continue to circulate online, claiming that he has “committed improper activities.”
According to the 21-year-old singer, he will be pursuing legal action against these detractors if they continue to make false rumors about him.
Here’s what he wrote:
“Recently, statements have been circulated online imputing that I have committed improper activities. These imputations are misleading and false, and I will not dignify these scurrilous statements by further discussing or elaborating on them.
However, it appears that some people are using these statements and propagating them on social media, as a blatant platform to defame me and my reputation. I have consulted with O/C Records, my management company, and the consensus is that legal action will be taken should detractors continue to damage my brand & reputation.
While some of the defamatory statements have since been deleted, every post has been properly documented & collected, and will be submitted to the authorities for investigation. With fairness, integrity & due process, the allegations will be addressed in the proper legal forum, to include possible actions for libel and violation of the Cybercrime Law. While O/C Records and I respect freedom of expression, the same should be directed towards meaningful discussion and constructive criticism, not used to hurl imputations that harm, cancel & damage people.”
Unique began his career as a vocalist for the band IV of Spades before becoming a solo artist. He has released two albums with O/C Records and also just premiered his latest single, “Mga Katulad Mo.”
For the past months, grooming allegations have been made against Unique which he has since denied and insisted are baseless.
