Tropical Storm ‘URSULA’ has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility a day before Christmas Eve

According to a post four hours ago by the official Twitter account of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA-DOST), the tropical storm internationally named ‘Phanfone’ has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was locally named ‘Ursula’.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 has been raised in Eastern Samar, Dinagat Island, and Insular municipalities of Surigao Del Norte including Burgos, Sta. Monica, San Isidro, San Benito, Del Carmen, Pilar, Dapa, General Luna, and Socorro.

Tropical Storm Ursula is expected to hit the central Philippines and nearby areas on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25). Meanwhile, it is expected to leave the PAR by Saturday, December 28.

It is the country’s 21st and potentially the last storm this year.
