The HFPA is the body in charge of selecting the Cecil B DeMille Lifetime Achievement Awardee. They decided to confer the award to Tom Hanks in commemoration of his legacy spanning over 80 films.

HFPA President Lorenzo Soria said: “For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters.

“As compelling as he is on the silver screen, he’s equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer, and director.”

The Cecil B DeMille award is given each year to a member of the film industry who hails from any of its fields: acting, directing or producing. They are recognized for the enduring and lasting impact they leave on the industry.
