That was the exact vibe at The Travel Club+’s ultra-exclusive event, “First Class: Exploring the World Through Wine,” held on May 31, 2024, at their chic flagship store in Shangri-La Plaza. In partnership with Elevaj Wine Experts, this intimate wine-tasting affair was a true toast to wanderlust and fine wine.

The evening was masterfully guided by Oly Ruiz, a Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 3 expert, alongside host Jackie Go, who holds a WSET 2 certification from Elevaj Wine Experts. Together, they led guests on a tantalizing tour through some of the world’s most iconic wine regions.
We started in the Old World, with glasses filled with refreshing Prosecco, then moved on to the savory delights of Chianti—a wine that practically begs to be enjoyed with food. Our French adventure featured the vibrant Provence Rosé and the sweet, dessert-perfect Monbazillac. Rounding off the night were New World stars like the versatile Chardonnay and the full-bodied, robust Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.

Oly Ruiz shared a golden nugget for all aspiring wine aficionados: the best food to pair with a wine is often the local cuisine of the wine’s region. So, if you’re planning your next culinary adventure, make sure to include some wine-producing cities in your itinerary for an authentic taste of the local culture.
Adding to the travel theme, we showcased luggage from the same regions as the wines. Italian brand Piquadro wowed us with their lightweight PQ Lite luggage and sleek leather goods.
