The Global Startup Awards joined forces with the Rice Bowl ASEAN Startup awards to host a series of regional events as an exhaustive celebration of start-up achievement for 2016. A SPACE Philippines – the country’s leading coworking + collaboration project – has been selected as the Country and Community Partner for the Philippines National Startup Awards, and the Regional Finals Partner to be hosted this year in Philippines. Last year the Rice Bowl Awards was hosted to great acclaim in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

National Ambassadors such as Mon Ibrahim, Manny Ayala, Benjamin Walch, Nicole Paterno, Diego Ramos, Marilen Tantamco, Lemuel Clark, Ron Baetiong, Allan Tan and Nina Terol have been nominating local start-up companies in the following categories: Start up of the year, Best Disrupter / Game-changer, Founder of the year, Startup Journalist of the year, Best Campaign of the Year, Start up Enabler of the year, Best Newcomer, Best Professional Investor, Developer Hero, Best Social Media Influencer, Best Social Enterprise.
The nominations will be vetted and shortlisted at an event to be held on June 15, 2016 at A SPACE Greenbelt. Shortlisted nominations will go through to a final judging round to be held later that same day at A SPACE Greenbelt’s Rockstar Room (asapcemanila.com/aspacegreenbelt). Judges will not be revealed until judging day to prevent lobbying, but will include a cross-section of thinkers from the Philippines’ innovation community.
The Philippines National Awards will take place on July 15th at A SPACE Greenbelt’s Gallery with finalists being recipients of local benefits and the opportunity to represent the Philippines at the ASEAN Final in September (venue to be confirmed). Winners of the ASEAN Final will compete in November at the Global Startup Awards finale, this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
