The Aliens are Back! “Independence Day” Makes A Comeback on the Big Screen — Watch the Trailer Here

“That is definitely bigger than the last one,” the closing line in the trailer goes. Is this a hint that Independence Day: Resurgence is going to be bigger, badder, and bolder?

We certainly hope so.

Finally, after 20 long years, one of the biggest blockbusters in the 1990’s will be making a comeback on to the big screen. Although sans Will Smith, who played Captain Steve Hiller in the original film, Independence Day 2 at least still has Bill Pullman who played US President Thomas J. Whitmore in the first film and Jeff Goldblum who plays David Levinson. The new film has got some exciting additions to the cast too, with Hunger Games‘ star Liam Hemsworth right up there in front.

If you aren’t familiar, Independence Day is a sci-fi thriller revolving around an alien attack against earth. And if you are familiar, and are wondering why Will Smith is not in the follow-up film, the timeline in a faux “history” in the film’s new website called War of 1996 (in commemoration of the ’96 alien attack in the movie) explains that Captain Hiller (Will Smith) died when an alien hybrid fighter jet’s flight test went wrong.

Can’t wait of excitement? Us too. But you can watch the trailer over and over right here:

Independence Day: Resurgence hits theaters June of 2016.
