The 5th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition: China and Germany

Germany was represented by Vulcan Europe, who has ranked 1st place in 2009 and 2nd place in 2010 during the International Fireworks Competition in Hannover, Germany, and 2nd place in The 2010 World Fireworks Championship in Oman. Every year, Germany lives up to the German term Blitzkrieg, meaning “lightning war” or in another definition “a fast and powerful effort”. Although their song list was comprised of cover songs from the TV series Glee, the pop-heavy playlist allowed Germany to have a successful “Blitzkrieg” in the pyrotechnic scale of it.

With edgy Glee covers like “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey and “Time of my Life” from the movie Dirty Dancing, Germany kept it energetic and upbeat, ending the night like a concert scene, with many of the audiences dancing and singing along during their performance.

Though China and Germany had amazing performances, this is still a competition, and in my opinion, I thought that Germany’s pyrotechnics and music fell more in sync, and their performance captured the hearts of the audience that night. Although China and Germany are both very strong competitors, I still believe that the country i’m cheering for, the UK, the defending champions, will take the 1st place again this year.
